Peer Advisory Groups
What is a peer advisory group?
Our peer advisory group members are like-minded individuals, selected and invited to join with others from our client network to collaborate in a common purpose.
The members are independent of each other, their diversity creates a significant resource within a culture of trust, confidentiality and collaboration.
Each group is a forum for the members’ personal and business growth, inspiring learning, innovation and development across the membership.
Who are the members of a peer advisory group?
Our Big Blue Box CEO Peer advisory groups bring together CEOs, MDs, business owners and senior leaders. Members may already have been coaching clients. The group membership offers them access to a collaborative team of others, extending their network and creating an independent board-like team. This enhances their ongoing personal, professional and business development.
Another specialist, professional-focus peer advisory group invites other coaches and mentors to meet regularly to collaborate on their collective and individual personal, professional and business development. This group's structure also provides coaching and mentoring supervision to its members.
Another peer advisory group structure brings together the high potential talent from diverse client organisations onto a powerful and energetic support and career development forum.
How does a peer advisory group work?
The power of the peer group is that Individuals bring their diverse thinking and experience to the group, in a collaborative spirit of learning and trust. This helps to create a network and perspective outside their existing industry.
Some groups meet in person on a regular monthly basis, other groups prefer to meet virtually and some meet virtually quarterly.
The CEO peer advisory group performs like the ideal board-level team of non-executive directors for each other and their businesses. The group helps members to make better decisions and hold each other to account for decisions and actions agreed in their meetings. The team notices the lack of politics and trust that impairs many leadership teams.
The Coaching peer advisory group collaborates to share skills, resolve issues and advise each other on coaching dilemmas, tools and techniques.
Group members also have regular ‘one to ones’ with the group Chair to assist with the implementation of actions, individual learning and the preparation of items for the group’s collaboration and problem resolution.

What is a Peer Advisory Group?
What is it and what does it do?
Our Definition
This is our working definition of our
peer advisory group.
It outlines why we exist, who we are, and what we do.
We are:
A select group
of like-minded individuals
with a balance of diversity and common purpose
who collaborate
in a trusting culture
to influence and shape each other’s behaviours, decisions, and beliefs.
Our Purpose
This refines our CEO Peer Advisory Group's
purpose.
This refines what we do and how we do it
We aim:
To be a forum for personal and business growth:
to develop behaviours, outcomes and benefits for ourselves,
to inspire these qualities between members
and to sponsor these qualities into our organisations.

We are:
A select group...
Membership is by invitation only.
Typical CEO peer advisory group members are previous coaching clients, in roles including CEO, MD, owner or founder, and senior, board-level leader.
Members commit to allocating time to work on themselves and their businesses.

of like-minded individuals...
Members possess a growth mindset, a drive to continue their personal and organisational development and a preparedness to be vulnerable.
Members are collaborative, open, emotionally intelligent, accountable, prepared to challenge and expect the same of all other members.

with a balance of diversity and common purpose...
Members are independent - we are not each other's customers, competitors, suppliers or business partners.
Members are invited from diverse sectors to contribute their diversity of experience to improve our decision-making.
All share a common purpose around growth, learning and collaboration.

who collaborate...
Collaboration is fundamental and powerful - demonstrating the power of connectedness and trust, openness and curiosity, expertise, knowledge and diversity within the group
Better decisions are made in a fraction of the time.

in a trusting culture...
Confidentiality is fundamental.
What happens in the group stays in the group.
But our peer advisory groups are unique forums, unlike almost any other organisational meeting.
Because of their independence, members collaborate; without self-interest, defensiveness or fear, for the benefit of the other members.

to influence and shape...
Independence means that every person can offer the best advice, without prejudice or self-interest.
Each member is there to support everyone else.
We behave as personal, 'non-executive' board members to every other member.

each other's behaviours, decisions and beliefs.
The peer advisory group helps members to make better decisions.
We hold members accountable for the changes, decisions and actions that they commit to undertaking.

We aim:
To be a forum for personal and business growth:
The peer advisory group is more than a business-focused board-like resource for its members.
In the diverse and mutually independent membership culture, each member contributes their career and life challenges and experiences to the group.

to develop behaviours, outcomes and benefits for ourselves,
It's about broad-based personal development for the membership.

to inspire these qualities between members...
Members support each other, they coach and mentor each other, and they share knowledge and experience openly.

and to sponsor these qualities into our organisations.
Members use their learning from the peer advisory group to promote growth and development throughout their organisations.
